Bachelor Hood

It took me just shy of 7 years, but I finally graduated from college, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Brigham Young University.

Let me tell you, it was a long, hard journey. Probably one of the hardest things I've ever done. And while I only had 13 credits left when I officially left BYU in April of 2010, those 13 credits have been some of the most difficult to realize.

Chalk it up to final trimester pregnancy, working full-time, supporting a husby who was also working full-time and going to school, but I barely eeekd out those seven credits last fall. And chalk it up to not having my own home, being away from my baby girl for 5+ hours a day for the first time in her life, and accomplishing semesters amount of work in 7 weeks, but this summer term was a trial all of its own.

Did you know that 75% of high-school freshman receive a HS diploma? Did you know that only 56% of those who enter college graduate, and it usually takes us six years to do it?

So while I applaud the high school class of 2012 for graduating, I'm gonna take a moment and applaud myself for completing my undergrad. It's kind of a big deal.

Congratulations Lexy!! Collage is a great experiance, There are always challenges of one kind or another. Taking summer classes when 16 weeks is crammed into 6 or 7 is hard and when you add to that, that most of the students are people who have already graduated, like teachers picking up more credits to move up the pay scale and being graded on the curve, which is almost a stright line across the top, just getting a C is a real accomplishment. I took statistics one summer, back in the day when you only had a calcuelator, and I rented one, a Merchant, that was defective, which took a couple of weeks to figure out, that it was the machine and not my fault things kept comming out different. Any way I ended up passing the course.
