Another first

First, let me tell you that I'm sitting in my pew chair. Feet up on my ottoman. Diet coke on the old suitcase turned side table to my left. Reduced fat Cheez-Its to my right. Tip tapping away on my beloved Mac. It's almost like bliss. Though not like Bliss, Idaho which is quite unlike bliss.

Today was my first day of classes. My capstone started at the ungodly hour of 8am. The sun hadn't even peaked over the Uinta Mtns and I am sure the cock had yet to crow. Aside from it's inhumane start time, I think the class will be a good coming together of everything I've been doing the last year and a half. I already have some ideas and am anxious to put my creative juices to work.

Right after that class I have a feature writing class. Although I heard much whining and moaning from some who took the class last semester, I walked away looking forward to the opportunity to expand my clip file, experiment with more voiced writing and do more writing in general - in the design/new media track we don't have the time to do quite as much writing as potential employers might be looking for.

Aside from the first day of class, today also marked my first published Issues & Ideas page. While yesterday my name was listed in my new position, today I designed the page and filled it was content, including my first column. Yes, I put my mug in because, well, I can. Ha.

I'm probably sounding egotistical here, but in all actuality my first real day was quite humbling. You should've seen all the red marks Kaye made on my first copy. You'd think I'd never heard of AP style.

For another first, my mother is coming to visit on the weekend of the 18th, for the first time in the three years I've been in Provo! I'm excited, even though I just saw her for over two weeks, I miss my family already. I'm a sucker.
